It's finally here! We've started clay in fifth grade! Track 1 kiddos were able to complete their mini bust sculptures before I track out. Here is a sneak peek: We looked at the American artist Robert Arnerson to inspire this project. He did many funky portraits in clay, like this one! And here is what they came up with. They are very creative! And, taking a peak at the first grader's work, we have been reading Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are and looking at the beautiful artwork to make our own 'wild things' using chalk pastel:
